Why Do I Need a Degree?

Just taking into account the slow job market and the employers who are able to pick and chose and just be plain choosy on who they hire is one reason. Of course they want to hire the person more qualified to perform the job. The more education you have the more qualified you are for the current job market. Community Colleges can fill this ever present need for a degree.
Another reason to seek a degree is to land the job of your dreams. You may be a person interested in nursing, physician’s assistant, architect, engineer, or a director of human resources. These jobs some type of degree or study in their respective fields and you can obtain your degree from many of the community colleges both local and distant. You may start working and earning money now and be laughing at your friends, but you’ll likely be earning pretty much the same in five years time without that degree. You could earn an average up to half as much again as high school graduates if you decide to study for an associate degree. If you decide to go for a bachelor degree level, you could be earning an average of two and one half times more. Also, you may have an offer of a job you can walk into now, but when times get tough your employer may be just as happy to see you go. The better your education the better chance you have of keeping that job. The average number of unemployed people with only a high school education was three times that of professionally qualified and college educated people. You’re only young once, and studying while you are young is much easier than when you’re older with financial, family, and time commitments. Ask any college graduate, and they’ll tell you they made their lifelong friends in college. It doesn’t matter if you attend a local community college or any other college or university, just do it! |
